When Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) & Simran (Kajol) first met on a inter-rail holiday in Europe it wasn’t exactly Love at first sight...but when Simran is taken back to India for an arranged marriage, Love makes its presence felt.

Encouraged by his father Dharamvir (Anupam Kher - Bend it like Beckham & ER) Raj decides to fly down from London to not just win his Bride but her whole family and the blessings of her father Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri - Indiana Jones & Temple of Doom). All this while the celebrations for the her wedding are in full swing.

The longest running film is now in its 16th year and still showing in Bombay, it won every major award in the year of release, Shah Rukh Khan shot to superstardom with this film and it defined the term “Bollywood”.

During the 1996 awards season, the film won 10 Filmfare Awards, the most ever for a single film at that time, the movie also won 2 Screen Awards and the National Award for the most Popular and Wholesome Entertainment film of the year.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was ranked by Indiatimes Movies among the "25 Must See Bollywood films". It was one of two Hindi films in the "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die" list along with Mother India
